Who is Nature’s Council?

OUR AIMS

Nature’s Council is a group of practitioners, researchers and activists, working within the field of Nature communication. Our aim is to be an advisory council to organisations, groups and individuals who want to seek counsel from Nature, specifically for projects that are in service to the well-being of more-than-human Nature.

EXAMPLES

Restoration of wilderness areas, and protection of wild areas or specific habitats and species under threat.

WHO WE CONSULT WITH

We consult with Nature on which projects to accept from individuals, groups or organisations who want more-than-human voices included as stakeholders in their deliberations, decisions and solutions.

PROJECTS

When choosing which projects to accept, we engage in dialogue with varying aspects of Nature, and support the individual, group or organisation to assist with positive outcomes for all involved. We generally seek and receive unanimous agreement as a result of our consultations.

Who and What
is Nature?

In an animist worldview that perceives all of existence as conscious, Nature includes everything in the universe, as everything becomes everyone. However, the work of Nature’s Council focuses on the Nature that is associated with Earth, both physical and beyond physical.

On Earth, Nature can be understood as a vast, intricate tapestry that encompasses the complex web of life, including all ecosystems, organisms, and natural processes.

It comprises all elements (air, fire, water, minerals), animals (humans and more-than-human), insects, plants, fungi and other microorganisms, each playing a vital role in maintaining ecological balance on planet Earth.

Beyond these visible life forms, Nature embodies the spirit of places – rivers, oceans, mountains, and forests – each infused with subtle energies and a unique essence. This deeper dimension of Nature can be seen as a sentient collective, reflecting a consciousness that connects all living things.

When we dialogue with Nature for projects, we engage in communication with different aspects of Nature, from the overarching intelligence of a particular species in an ecosystem, to the subtle energies that govern a landscape.

What is Nature Communication?

There are many definitions of Nature communication, as it is known by various terms.

One definition is that it is “…the ability that all humans have to fluidly and accurately converse with more-than-human nature using the expanded spectrum of human sensory awareness…” (von Diest, 2019).

When we communicate with Nature, we use a language that is beyond words, that works on a heart-based connection that transcends the separation barrier that humans have created between themselves and the natural world. We also work with our intuition in order to feel and sense what others are feeling and sensing.

From deeply profound messages, to practical physical issues, much can be gained in order to understand the more-than-human.

Regardless of the definition, many practitioners of Nature Communication agree on certain characteristics: it is immediate, independent of time and space, inherent in all humans (because humans are Nature, too), and can be developed by anyone willing to rekindle this ancestral ability.

Who is our Audience?

Anyone who is open to the possibilities of working with Nature Communication, and would like help in seeking counsel from Nature for the benefit of creating balance in the natural world, and harmonious co-existence.
This includes individuals, groups and organisations.
